Acting upon the issue of clean water availability in Limalas Village, Misool, Raja Ampat, the joint community movement by the Atap Langit Foundation and Limalas Raya Student Youth Association (PPPMLR) has initiated a documentary film training which was carried out on the 1st of March 2024 spanning 3 days. With additional support from the Belantara Papua Foundation and Papuan Voices, the documentary film training was a resounding success.  Twelve members from the Limalas Youth Association were chosen to participate in the training program which was conducted by instructors from Belantara Papua and Papuan Voices. They were then equipped with the tools and skills required to create documentary films such as editing, interviewing, and camera work - thus empowering them to become agents of change.  Image Above: Instructor Mr. Markus Binur teaching the participants film editing skills. Following the completion of the film documentary training session, the 12 participants are expected to create their own documentary film with the guidance of Mr. Markus Binur from Belantara Papua Foundation who is experienced in production and filmmaking. Filming for the documentary film will commence in April 2024 with Limalas Village and its water scarcity issue as the primary focus of the film.  Image Above: Participants conduct mock interviews for their very first documentary short film.

Image Above: Group photo during the educational event On July 22 2023, the Atap Langit Ecoducation Foundation (YEAL) and the Misool Ecosystem Regeneration Foundation (YMER) jointly held an educational event at the Petrus Van Diepen Seminary School. The main aim of this event is to provide an understanding of the importance of education in changing behavior regarding waste processing and emphasize the vital role of schools in driving this change. YEAL and YMER have long been committed to increasing awareness and knowledge about sustainable waste management. They believe that education is the key to creating positive change in society. This event was attended by students, teachers and school staff. Speakers from YEAL and YMER gave inspiring presentations about the importance of protecting the environment properly, especially in terms of waste management. They also learn about sustainable practices that they can apply in their daily lives. This event highlights the important role of schools in shaping students' thinking and behavior patterns. Petrus Van Diepen Seminary School, along with other schools, can be a strong agent of change in encouraging better waste management practices. They not only impart knowledge, but also educate students about social and environmental responsibility. The ultimate goal of this event is to inspire future generations to become active agents of change in protecting nature. With a better understanding of the importance of sustainable waste management, students are expected to become pioneers in preserving the environment. They believe that education is a strong foundation for positive change, and they are passionate about continuing this mission. This outreach event is the first step towards greater change in waste management and environmental awareness. Petrus Van Diepen Seminary School is a key partner in helping to form future leaders who care about the environment.

Sorong, West Papua - The Atap Langit Foundation hosted a meeting with the Limalas Village Youth Association (PPPMLR) which marks a significant milestone towards the establishment of the Blue Carbon Village in Misool Island - following our successful partnership with the Limalas Indigenous Community and the GKI Raja Ampat Churches. This initiative also yielded joint efforts to address the issue of clean water availability in Limalas Village - which has been plagueing the village this year. Through this collaboration, the Ecoducation Atap Langit Foundation and the Limalas Village Youth Association are committed to providing concrete solutions towards this issue and will continue to support each other in our planned activities for 2024 and above. "We are excited to achieve shared milestones in this project and express gratitude for the support and participation from all parties," said Engelbert Maspaitella, Chair of Ecoducation Atap Langit.
